Renee’s Recent Reads 4/14/22 + Notebook poll!

Hi friends, and happy almost Friday 😜 The weather in my area has unfortunately gone back to being cold and rainy again, but I’m hopeful that by end of April / start of May we’ll start seeing more sun and higher temps again. Hopefully the weather near you has been a bit nicer!

Before I get into my recent reads, I have a quick question for you all! I’m nearing the end of my current reading journal notebook and I’m trying to pick which one to use next of the set of notebooks I currently own. Let me know which one you think I should use next? ✨

Thanks so much for your help!! And now for recent reads…

I recently received lovely review copies of The Forever King by Ben Galley (to the left) and The Carnival of Ash by Tom Beckerlegge (on the right) – thanks so much to Ben and Tom for sending those my way! Both of these are interesting fantasies with totally different concepts. After I finish my current book I’m excited to dive into those next and give my thoughts!

The book I’m deep in the weeds with right now is my April Book of the Month selection, Kaikeyi by Vaishnavi Patel. Wow this is such a wonderful and unique fantasy read! I’m loving the character development, the magic woven into the story, and the rich fabric of culture and history that makes up the bones of the story! This is totally different from so many other fantasies I’ve read so far. It’s a bit slow and more political than other books I’ve read, but the stage is set for some really interesting plot opportunities later on so I’m excited to see how it ends!

Let me know if you have any recent reads that you’d recommend! 😊
